twelve four year olds 

1. shy and watching from the corner

2. oblivious, blowing bubbles and singing to herself

3. looking through books, marveling at the pictures

4. outside, up in a tree, talking to a squirrel

5. watching cartoons and eating cocoa puffs

6. making faces in the mirror

7. crying because it's not fair

8. outside racing matchbox cars in the dirt

9. laying in the grass, petting the kitty and watching the clouds roll by

10. separating the peas and carrots on her plate

11. throwing a temper tantrum

12. dancing in circles with her doll

...

... all rolled into one person, staring at 48 candles blazing on a cake.  (Which, by the way, were all blown out in one giant breath.)
